Fasimec® Oral
Product Type
Oral broad spectrum suspension for the control of round worms and liver flukes in cattle and sheep, sucking lice in cattle and nasal bots and itch mites in sheep
Description and Composition
FASIMEC oral is available as 2 ready-to-use drenches
FASIMEC cattle 12.2% containing 200 mg ivermectin and 12 g triclabendazole per 100 ml.
FASIMEC sheep 5.1% containing 100 mg ivermectin and 5 g triclabendazole per 100 ml.
Properties
Ivermectin is an avermectin macrocyclic lactone. It interacts with glutamate-gated chloride ion channels. By increasing membrane permeability to chloride ions it causes irreversible neuromuscular blockade in nematodes and arthropods leading to paralysis and death. Beside its effectiveness against ticks, mites and insects ivermectin is a broad spectrum anthelmintic effective against mature and immature stages of nematodes, including inhibited stages and strains resistant to other anthelmintic classes.
Triclabendazole is a benzimidazole. It binds to tubulin impairing intracellular transport mechanisms and interferes with protein synthesis. Triclabendazole is specifically effective against all 3 stages of Fasciola. The unique efficacy against early immature and immature stages makes FASIMEC particularly useful for the treatment of outbreaks of acute and subacute fasciolosis and for the strategic control of Fasciola infections.
Indications
FASIMEC is indicated for the control
- of adult and immature (including inhibited stages) ivermectin-sensitive gastrointestinal nematodes (Ostertagia, Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia) in cattle and sheep,
