Fasimec® Pour-On

Product Type

Broad spectrum pour on for the control of round worms, liver flukes and lice of beef cattle

Description and Composition

FASIMEC pour on is available as ready-to-use pour on containing 5 mg abamectin and 300 mg triclabendazole per 1 ml.

Properties

Abamectin is an avermectin (macrocyclic lactone). It interacts with glutamate-gated chloride ion channels. By increasing membrane permeability to chloride ions it causes irreversible neuromuscular blockade in nematodes and arthropods leading to paralysis and death. Beside its effectiveness against ticks, mites and insects abamectin is a broad spectrum anthelmintic effective against mature and immature stages of nematodes, including inhibited stages and strains resistant to other anthelmintic classes.
Triclabendazole is a benzimidazole. It binds to tubulin impairing intracellular transport mechanisms and interferes with protein synthesis. Triclabendazole is specifically effective against all 3 stages of Fasciola. The unique efficacy against early immature and immature stages makes FASIMEC pour on particularly useful for the treatment of outbreaks of acute and subacute fasciolosis and for the strategic control of Fasciola infections.

Indications

FASIMEC pour on is indicated for the control of adult and immature abamectin-sensitive gastrointestinal nematodes (Ostertagia (including inhibited stages), Haemonchus, Trichostrongylus, Cooperia, Nematodirus, Bunostomum, Strongyloides, Oesophagostomum, Trichuris), of adult and immature lung worms (Dictyocaulus), of adult, immature and early immature triclabendazole-sensitive liver flukes (Fasciola) and of lice (sucking: Linognathus, Haematopinus, Solenopotes; and biting: Damalinia) and aids in the control of ticks (Boophilus).

Dosage and Administration

The recommended dose rate is 1 ml of FASIMEC pour on per 10 kg bodyweight, corresponding to 0.5 mg abamectin and 30 mg triclabendazole per kg.
FASIMEC is poured onto the back of the animals along the backline starting between the shoulder blades using a standard pour on applicator. FASIMEC pour on is rain fast. Rain occurring as early as 2 hours after treatment will not affect the efficacy of the product.

Waiting periods
